Can't Open Microsoft Word 2000

MS Word 2000 will not open documents either from the MS Works location or by double-clicking on the relevant document in my "Documents" folder. Have uninstalled and reinstalled Word 2000 several times with the same result...nothing.

Have also done a System Restore...not helpful. Had two messages appear earlier on: the first was that Winword not responding and the second saying that system was dangerously low on resources. Neither has appreared since new installation.

Am running ME on a Dell Dimension 4100 and have 10GB of capacity available.

Would appreciate any help or guidance you can provide.

TIA
Michael R. Geraci

Michael, I'm sure one of the pros will be by to help. I didn't even know Word would open a Works file
I'm only posting concerning your email address as part of your signature. Are you sure you want to do that? If one clicks on your member name they can send you a PM. Plus you'll know who it's coming from. Just a thought.

The problems you're experiencing with Word is solved more often than not by finding and deleting "normal.dot."

It's a hidden file so you first need to go to My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>Advanced tab and check "Show hidden files and folders," click OK.

Then, with Word closed, go to Start>Find>Files and Folders, tell it to search for "normal.dot" on the C drive. When it's found, right click on it, left click on Delete. The next time you open Word, it will create a new normal.dot file.
