    Hi All,

My sister saved a spreadsheet created on Win 98 with Office 2ooo (Excel) on to a floppy and now it can’t be opened on the same computer. She brought it to me and I tried opening it with Works 2002 but I get the same result.
If I try to open it I get the following:
    Unable to open
    A:\WORKSH~1.SHS
    Class not Registered
If I try to explore it I get
    Worksheet Scrap “Materials 10765_...â€
    Scrap Object.
    1) Can I open an excel file with works?
    2) How can she open this file (with excel or works)?
Hope someone can help quickly as she needs to send in her tax returns soon. TIA.

    Mickzer.

This was the only info I've come accross so far:

You could try to rename the file with the xls extension.

In the mean time I'll see if I can find out more.

On a machine with Excel, open a new sheet, then alt-tab back into explorer, drag and drop the scrap into the existing sheet.

This is not the preferred way to save files

    Hi JoeHobart,
That worked perfectly. It opened first time. That leaves me with two questions
    1) What did she do to make this happen?
    2) Why did it open this way when it didn't open the normal way?
    Once again, many thanks.
    mickzer.
