Windows Media Player and XP...

I have just got WMP9 for XP and it hates my computer...

When there not involed in gang land warfare WMP is asking me telling me:

"The audio codec identified by the format tag 55 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help."

Errrrrrrr! Someone help!

I've sorted out it playing videos (not fully tested) by uninstalling ALL my codecs but also when I run WMP to play a MP3 it just displays that message!

I've reinstalled over the top of what I've got somemany times!

Also I get:

"Connecting...."
"Requesting...." (Too fast to read them fully)
"Error..."

Flashing above the play button then it says "Ready".

Thank you

Gary

Ok, by playing .WMA I have found out that the problem is the program wont connect to the net to get the codec it needs....

Anyone know how I can get it to?

I've shut down my FireWall and also tryed it playing about with the setting in Tools > Options!

Anyone know how to sort this out? I thought the idea of WMP9 was to not have to install Third Party codecs yet it looks like I'm going to have to!

F****** microsoft! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Sorry, Thanx,

Gary
