games locking up

Hi
Whenever i play online games such as medal of honour, my computer locks up and the only way out is to restart. At other times I have had the blue screen and then a warning message that my processor (athlon 2000) is getting too hot. Does anyone know if that could be the reason for the games freezing. Im thinking of getting a new fan. Heaven forbid its my bloody audigy card yet again!

Yes!!! If your cpu is getting too hot it can and will cause problems like this. Try playing the game with the case open and see what happens. You might also set a fan up by it and have it blowing into the case.

I put a big fan into the open side of my computer and no lock ups, now I have to find a decent fan for my cpu. Just hope I havent damaged it in the meantime.

Lightbulb

Buy a heatsink/fan combo from1coolpc

They have decent prices and great service. I have the TT Volcano 7+. It has three speeds. I keep it on low when I am doing work and then crank it up to medium when gaming (High is VERY loud). Just make sure you buy some Arctic silver to go with it.
