Question OFFICE 2000 release Number?

after applying Service Release package to Office 2000, where does it display which release is the current one for your application?
I applied what I thought was SR-2 and it still shows SR-1 in about screen.

My Office 2000 shows SR-1, same as yours. There was also a couple of Service Pack (SP-2) updates for Office 2000 out last year. Are these what you may be looking for? I don't think there was a SR-2 release for Office 2000. (Could be wrong, may be in another OS like Windows 2000, etc.)

If you go to the Office Products update site, run the update engine, then when finished click on the "Show Installed Updates" it will give you all the Office 2000 updates on your computer.

JohnB

PS: There's a new update to Office 2000 out today, on the products update site.

Doven - What you are referring to is SP2 (Service Pack) and SR1 (Service Release), I believe. I downloaded SP2 awhile back and installed it with great difficulty and help from Microsoft. Actually had to remove, clean and reinstall Office2000, to get SP2 installed.
However,as to your question - The display will only show the SR1 level. Apparantly, service packs do not trigger a display.
Run the Office update scan at http://office.microsoft.com/ProductUpdates/default.aspx
to see if any updates are available. After that process you have a button to check installed updates. You should see the SP2 there.

Bye the way there is a new update for Word 2000 released today - Oct 16,2002.

Good info JohnB - and you type much faster than me.
I agree with you that Doven must mean SP2.

Great weather up here in the Great White North. Warmer here than L.A.
Hope we have answered Doven's questions .
I was distracted when posting my reply and saw your response as I submitted my post. My reply looks like a copy of yours, John.
Honest, I saw yours after I posted.
Great Canadian minds think alike? Or is it just the facts speak for themselves.

Double checked with techs and they had appliled the releases & patches, but were calling both a Release. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.

Your welcome. Glad you got that cleared up. Can be confusing what with all the SP and SR releases.

John.

PS, still nice weather here in the Cariboo, 55-60 deg. during day, frost at night. Nicest fall in a few years. Lots of beautiful fall colours.
