Strange little problem here. We have Word Starter 2010 on a Win 7 laptop and it will not print to the printer on the network. Any other program will print fine except for the Word program. I tried removing the printer and reinstalling, but that didn't help.

Is this a Word Starter glitch, or something that I missed? I can only assume that since all other programs print fine, it's something in Starter. Should I just uninstall Starter and install my Office 2003 program?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Mike

    Hi Pete,

Thanks and, yes, I did try both of those suggestions. Ctrl-P doesn't work and the fix didn't find any errors.

If you connect the printer directly to the laptop can you print the doc?

I just tried connecting directly and it's a no go. It acts like it's sending the info to the printer, but it never gets there. When I check for pending documents, it shows that nothing is there. This is crazy.

Is the print spooler service running?

Yes, the spool service appears to be running.

    Hi Pete,

I went through that page and nothing helped. I even ran across a Microsoft page dealing with a registry fix and I couldn't find the key, so that was a no go. I don't know if this matters, but I can take the Word document, save it to a flash drive, open it on another computer, and it will print just fine.

It's clearly a printing issue not an issue with the specific document - I'm afraid I can't find anything else of relevance anywhere and am fresh out of ideas.

I had thought of suggesting moving the Print Spooler, but, unlike XP, there appears to be no way of doing this in 7.

Thanks for the suggestions and trying to help, Pete. Maybe, I'll put in my copy of Office 2003 and see if that works.

Will be interesting to hear of the outcome - I have a sneaky feeling that the problem will remain :)
