    Hello,

Does anyone know the location of the utility to give W 3.1 programs long
file names so they can run on later version of Windows ? Can't seem to
locate it. Have several excellent W 3.1 programs I would like to run if they
can show and use long file names somehow wih some utility program.

    Thanks,

Give us one or two examples of the names of these apps? Ands or what do they do that requires long file names?

Have you installed any of them to determin if you really need a utility?

Sorry about the double post, thought I would get a response in XP as well.

The main program is PFS WindowWorks, discontinued after Windows 3.1, but
operates as well as any MSWorks version. I want to start using it again as it
is very responsive and covers all my home needs.

The short file names have to be changed to long file names so it can use
the txt files, rtf files, doc files, etc. and just be more useful with long filenames.

The other program is MSWorks for DOS. Basically the same problem with
the short file names all the time.

Any utility programs in mind ? I'm using XP presently.

    THX.

OpenOffice.org has a FREE Office suite similar to MS Office. It'd be a lot easier using that;)
