What's a Juniper Networks Host Checker?

I was just tidying up my computer and I noticed Juniper Networks Host Checker. I must have used it sometime ago, but I don't remember why. Is it necessary and is it safe to uninstall it? Thanks.

There is a lot of mumbo-jumbo out there about Juniper. It seems to me, that the main reason for using Juniper is to provide a VPN connection. The only thing the I have that remotely resembles a network(?) is that I use a router when I use my laptop.

When in doubt - leave it alone...

Found this from McAfee's web site:
Quote:
Juniper Host Checker software provides an API (NHC_EndpointSecure) for third-party vendor integration. Third parties implement these APIs to securely exchange information with Host Checker.

This function is implemented by McAfee FireNHC.dll. When Host Checker calls method NHC_EndpointSecure, an access violation exception is created within the McAfee implementation of FireNHC.dll for this API.
