When I log in to a computer remotely to use it, or to troubleshoot it, I always have to spend a minute to un-hide extensions, view by details, unhide system folders, and apply settings to all folders.

Not a big hassle, it's just annoying to be required to do it every time. Is there something that could be scripted to set these? Either as just something I can run off the network when I log in, or maybe as part of my login script?

Set up a system how you want it, then use regedit to export this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and save it as something like options.reg. It can then be used on multiple systems by rt clicking and selecting "merge ".

It would be wise to export that key PRIOR to changing anything so the reg file can be used to set the system back to the way it was. Name it something like original.reg You may not want all users to see hidden files and folders, as well as system files.

You could probably make the changes solely for your login account, but it's more difficult to identify your particular account in the registry. It would be located here:

    HKEY_Users/S-x-x-x/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer

    but which one?????

and you'd have to create the Advanced key and then add the dwords and values for those particular folder view options.

It's much easier to use the Current User keys, one with your settings and one to change back to the way things were.
