Whilst I was trying to sort out some Internet problems, which turned out to be Malware, I came across a lot of Registry repair programmes that would run a check find 100's of problems then promise to fix these if you paid for the download.

What I would like to know is are these programmes legitimate, do they actually work and are they worth the money? I have been a bit sceptical and get the feeling that they arte a bit of a con.

Thanks for the advice, I'm glad I didn't fork out for one of these.

Be aware that any registry cleaner can cause problems, you will not see any significant speed advantage and may cause irreversible damage to your registry.

My advice, only use such tools (free or otherwise) if you know exactly what you're doing. In other words, if it ain't broke... don't fix it. ;)

    Hi
I had an error code on both my optical disk drives I studied how to get my drives going again Apparently it was a Registry fault and i had 3 ways to do it my self but chickened out as messing with the Registry can mean suicide. So i paid out for one of the Registry fix programmes and it did nothing. Tried it again nothing could not contact them as no customer services so i just went ahead and did it myself. So beware of false promises when you are in a mess.

Thanks dobhar for the information. Were trying to find a freeware registry cleaner and try it out without any knowledge of registries.
And for now... i think i'll just leave it there. :p

*edit* and specially windowsbbs for providing forum to store this info :p
