Have some files ending in .shn
but can't find anything online that will open them.
Downloaded Winamp and tried adding in_shn to the addons folder, but was unsuccessful.
    Who knows the trick?

The trick is to use Google and search for "File Extensions" and find the application that uses that file type.

ShnAmpTM is a real-time Shorten playback plugin for WinAmp versions 2, 3 and 5 created by Wayne Stielau for the etree.org community. ShnAmp supports the SHN v3 standard, and can take full advantage of seeking Shorten!

Steve, I downloaded this same file yesterday, but could not figure out how to use, or open it. It opens in a window saying IZArc, and I've tried everything I can, but I don't know how to use the thing.
    HELP!

    And how about this one...
I downloaded some FLAC files, but the extension is FLA so FLAC Frontend does not recognise them. How can I decode them?

Did you do the above? There are many sites for File Extensions...

For Shn it references: MKW Audio Compression Tool, by Michael K. Weise. The md5 checking and creating function is included in the software.
But the link is no longer viable. Now what?

Read this over, but no reference to FLAC in the shorter form of FLA.
    Any ideas?

Try renaming them and adding a c to the end.

    Someone shoot me!

I just renamed them and it worked fine.
Not sure how I tried renaming before.

Anyone have an answer for the shn files?
I've got a killer concert that I want to decode.

You can use MKW to convert shn files to wav or mp3. Get it here from its source page along w/ any needed runtime libraries:
    http://etree.org/mkw.html

Now, tell us what concert is killer!

    Right on dude!
Now if you didn't look this up, then I'm REALLY impressed.
Was at that concert, and used to have the recording on vinyl.
Was DELIGHTED to come across it the other day online.
Now if I can just get it to open! :(

Alright, so Tony did you look this up?
No one knows where that recording was made, let alone the date.
Shoot, I was there and I didn't remember the date. Only that I was there and bought the vinyl at some subsequent concert. Don't remember which one. In those days when the concert got out there were guys standing outside selling all sorts of bootlegs. And back then that was the only way to find them. Had another great bootleg of a Tull concert I saw. Also at the Forum. Must have been a regular business for someone going to the concerts. :D

Now can you give me a quick and easy way to open this thing?
I still haven't figured it out!

    Mine was on Blimp Records.
