Okay, I have searched the board and I am still confused. I keep getting a message that the file sqlevn70.rll is has been tampered with or is corrupted. I have windows XP Pro. I have MS SQL Server Compact Edition 2005 [ENU] and MS SQL Server Desktop Engine (MICROSOFTSMLBiz).

The messages I've found on the board all seem to be from 2006 and only added to my confusion. I do not have the system disks. Dell did not send them to me and my warranty is outdated and I cannot afford their service fee.

Is there a way that I can get a copy of this file and just copy it into the directory? Will this even solve my problem? Any help greatly appreciated.

Ditto to changing the computer name back to what it was.

If you can't remember what the name was, there's a 50-50 chance you can find it in one of SQL's errorlog files. The folder path is something like:

    C:\Program Files\MS SQL????\LOG

    Installing SQL Server Compact Edition

Just be carefull and you might try to keep looking for a solution to the original problem if you are ver experienced with SQL.
