Compatability of Quicken programs

    I recently had to replace my hard drive, but was able to save text although I lost all my programs. I have Quicken 2000 De Luxe and was able to re-install this. In order to upgrade, I purchased and downloaded Quicken 2008 Version 4 but when I attempt to install this, error message appears requiring that I uninstall all previous Quicken programs.
    My query is if I uninstall Quicken De Luxe 2000 will Quicken 08 accept restored back up of 2000? I have put this query several times to Intuit but they either can't or won't give me a positive answer as they no longer support 2000
    Is there any Quicken afficionado out there who has experienced a similar problem or can advise me on this one?

    In theory, the upgrade probably assumes you've been using the software and don't want to lose years of data....So in theory, your data is probably sitting in an OK folder....

    When in doubt - do a backup before proceeding..
