I recently viewed my Add/Remove Programs and notice stuff in there that I don't recognize such as: CP_Package_Variety 1, Variety 2, Variety 3; Q Folder; Quick Projects, KBD, etc., etc. Some of the programs are just listed with nothing else (such as the number of KB, etc. associated with the program). I also notice a couple of duplicates.

Do I get rid of these programs or what?

I hope I posted to the right forum--wasn't sure. Will sincerely appreciate any thoughts and ideas.

    Hello pkl,

I can't find any info on what this stuff is, so lets see what's running on your system.

    Please download HijackThis!
    SetUp from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTsetup.exe

Save the file to your desktop.

    Double-click the HijackThis!

SetUp icon to begin the installation.

Follow the prompts for the default install location of:'C:\Program Files\HijackThis'.

Tick the 'Create a desktop' button when the option appears.

Select next, then allow HijackThis! to start.

    Then press the [Scan] button.

You will notice the [Scan] button will turn into a [Save Log] button.

Click the [Save Log] button and notepad will open up with the contents of the scan.

Right-click in the saved log, and select 'copy'.

Then start a new thread in the Virus/malware removal section and paste the saved contents to be reviewed.

Do not make any modifications to the log or perform any 'fixes' until told to do so.

As soon as you do that, a staff member will close this thread.

    Regards - Charles

At the top of the add-remove pgms applet is a checkbox to show updates (Microsoft Updates). Uncheck it & then view the list of installed pgms & see what changes.

    Thank you for your response.

Updates is unchecked--I also "checked" it and didn't really see any difference.

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, it is store bought. I'm not sure what you mean by a multi cd program but I have not installed anything recently except for updates for certain programs.

CP_Package_Variety 1, Variety 2, Variety 3; -> Looks like some program that came on more then one cd. Maybe a training/music type program.
