I saved all my data and reformatted my hard drive. Reloaded WinXP SP2 and upgraded to office 2003. now all my word docs after 2003 asks for a suitable encoder no matter what I choose my docs all display like this.

    —AþÿƒÄ 3ÀëßSÿt$ èédþÿƒÄ "¹Ã¸Sè{AþÿƒÄ "¦Ã¿u 3À뿡Ô)±sPèeAþÿƒÄ j Wj èà" Ā

any docs prior to 2003 display correctly. ***?

Can anyone help me, I have tried all the MS forums/knowlege base, they all say to select a suitable encoder. I really dont like idea of losing two years of work...........

Gary - Welcome to the Board :)

Couple of things to try ....

Repair Word - Help > Detect and Repair

and, if you have not already done so go to Office Update and see what updates are on offer - there is a Service Pack, but that may already be incorporated in your install CD.
