This file is apparently missing from from my XP Pro/SP2 system, causing premature shutdowns (with error messages) in some applications (esp Eudora, after I click on a URL embedded in an E-Mail). I downloaded a copy from something called www.shocksytems.com, but I don't know where to put it....for all I know, it may not even be part of XP...and I know it's not part of Eudora. Googling the web I find no reference to it anywhere except on this incomprehensible shocksystems site (are they legit?)....www.dll-files.com never heard of it. Any ideas?

Surely isn't much information out there. The one you found is an old file (199?) and does not have any version information with it (so no idea of whose file it is).

The file is certainly not a part of any Microsoft operating system.

Have you checked your event logs for the times when you've gotten the error? There could well be additional information about the error that would help sort things out.

The file you got qvhook.dll comes from here:
    http://shocksystems.com/webfiles/windows/utilities/qv26/
This is what the qv.hlp pgm says:
    Code:
    QV Help Index

QV is now a freeware !

    Description
QV is a graphic viewer/converter for JPEG, BMP, GIF and TIFF files.
QV is an OLE 2 server.

    How To ...
    	Use Albums
Convert files between different file formats

    Commands
    	File menu
    	Edit menu
    	View menu
    	Selection menu
    	Window menu
    	Help menu

It's possible that some programs on your computer utilize the freeware dlls and functions of the qv viewer.
