How to open MS Word Document to bookmark?

I would like to set up a Microsoft Word document so that when I open it, it automatically goes to a bookmark within the document. Is there a way to do that? and if so, how?

Thanks to anybody who thought about this question. I finally figured it out myself. For anybody else who might be interested in this, here's what's necessary:

1. Create an AutoOpen macro that goes to the correct bookmark.

2. Create a personal digital signature. This is described at:

3. Sign the Macro Project with your digital signature. This is described at:

4. Add your digital signature to the list of trusted publishers. This is described at:

I'm not sure it was worth the effort, but I know more now that I did before. AND my file opens at the right spot every time, so that's what I was trying to do.

Another way that’s actually built into Word. (Without using Macros)
1.) Select a point somewhere on your Text
2.) Select "Insert" then "Bookmarkâ€
3.) The Bookmark Dialog Box opens , type in some "name" then click on "Addâ€

To get back to the Bookmark at some later time:
1.) Open the Document.
2.) Navigate to and click the "Select Browse Object" Icon on the bottom of the Vertical scrollbar.
3.) Click the "Go To" Arrow in the upper left corner.
4.) Select the "Go To" Tab and click "Bookmarkâ€
5.) The "name" previously selected should be there. Highlight it.
6.) Click on "Go Toâ€. Your cursor should go to whatever location you chose for the "name" Bookmark.
7.) Select Close

Hope this helps anyone else who may be trying to use Bookmarks for any version of Word.

While we all do our best to answer each and every question in a timely manner, some do get overlooked for a longer period of time. This "thank you" is not extended in an effort to belittle Irdreed's additional comments or suggestion. For this, as always, is nice to see and greatly appreciated. This appreciation is further extended to all who do this! I just felt that this special effort deserved a special thank you.

Then in my research I happened to come across one other way which I felt we could all benefit from.

So I too add my "Thank You ".

 

You're welcome to everybody who said thanks to me. It IS nice to hear a thank you once in a while.

One additional comment: If I understand IDREED's suggestion, his method requires a number of additional mouse clicks to get to the bookmark location. My method happens automatically when the document opens and doesn't require anything extra. It's a minor point, but I open this particular document quite often, and I find that it's just more convenient to go the correct spot without any extra effort.

I agree with your statement, but my intent was just to let everyone know, as in most things, there is another way.(Just in case. )
