I started scandisk on my #2, 80G drive. The examinationi indicated about 30G unmovable. Does that make any sense? It isn't anything I have done deliberately, like making files +H +S. I am going to need 4G contiguous to reinstall GoBack since it gave me an error doing it.

The defrag is under way now so I will have to see if GoBack will install later.

    Hi tenbob!

I assume that You are using some flavor of Norton SystemWorks. Do You also use Norton Protection?

If so and if You have deleted a bunch of files to "make room ", don't forget to purge Norton Protected Files.

No I am not using Systemworks but I did delete the Norton Protected and also the Recycled bin files.

It just finished its defrag overnite and my estimate of non-movable files was pretty accurate. I will try the GoBack and see what happens now.

    Okey,
Norton Utilities then ...... ;) ...... or should I stop guessing!

Does used space and free space on #2 meet Your estimate?

I have heard about people getting hacked and their harddisks hijacked for "external usage" by the hacker.

I will have to find a way to find out what is in that space since you may be right about that. The apparent space used is what it should be, I think but it should not be locked in place.

Norton Suite is just a larger package that has Norton Utilities, Anti-Spam and I think also a firewall. I use different apps for those operations.

I found a different way of using what I needed but that reserved space still puzzled me.

    Thanks for the chat :D

I don't have direct access to Norton Speedisk, but when the "map" of your drive is displayed, if you click on one of the blocks, the contents will be displayed for you. (upper right, if I remember)
