    Hi all,

Got an old Compaq V55 monitor running on a very old machine. From what I can tell, there is no way of editing the colour mix on the monitor (such as how much red/green/blue). Is there anyway to do this without having a graphics card and monitor that appear to be capable?

I'm saying this because I feel there is too much red and too little green.

I rather doubt it - colour balance is generally altered by adjusting the video card or the monitor - or both.

Sounds like the screen on your old monitor has deteriorated.

    Hi,

Probably the case, thank god for my lovely 19" LCD monitor up here ;)

This is an old PC, so maybe the video chip plays a part in the poor graphics on the monitor, although I am aware of video cards that allow you to fine tune the colours, such as Matrox, etc.

Is this possible on chips like S3?

    Thanks for your help

    Yes - use a G550 myself.

On current chips probably - my laptop has an S3 chip and I can alter the RGB on that.

    -

Got tons of large monitors, but unfortunately thats my only 14" one, and since the graphics chip in that old machine is so.. dare i say.. "crusty" it cannot display higher resolutions, so it wouldnt look good on a large monitor.

    Guess I'm stuffed.

    Thanks :)
