I am thinking about biting the bullet and finally getting some pro DVD editing software. This is strictly for personal, not business, use. I’ve tinkered with the free solutions for years and I’m thinking that a pro app would be easier to use.

I would like to get some software that I can use to (a) convert movies on my hard drive to a DVD format, and then burn them to a DVD viewable on standard DVD players hooked up to a TV; and (b) provide me with basic editing features for MP4 files (like combining mp4s, and also trimming them), and perhaps even converting from one format to another (such as to/from flv, mp4, etc.). At least the conversion to DVD format and burning to viewable DVD should be so simple that someone with basic computer literacy can do it. Making a DVD in this context simply means taking an MP4, and burning it onto a DVD so that it can be viewed on someone’s TV. We’re not talking about elaborate audio-video settings being modified, or anything like that.

I am thinking of getting one of three programs: Nero Video 2015; Roxio Creator NXT 3; and Corel DVD Movie Factory Pro 7. If there is one that you would strongly recommend for both purposes, feel free to give a recommendation for it, even if its not one of the three I’m looking at. For reasons of price alone, I’m leaning towards Nero or Corel (both are in the $50-60 range).

Question: Is there one of these that people would strongly recommend I (not) get? Why? Thanks.

This is a good one to use. Don't let the title fool you. It works on •Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista/2008/Win7/Win8 (x86 / x64)

I don't see where it says anything about burning DVD movies, or converting MP4s to DVDs or editing those files.

Thanks for the link. I found one program that appears to be what you were referring to: http://www.videoredo.com/en/Products_VideoReDo_Plus.html

Looks interesting, the price is right around the offerings of Nero and Corel.
