I'm running Win 8.1. with an H.P. Deskjet 2540 printer. Is there any way or software program that will allow me to print only the screen that I am viewing at the time?

As an example, I'm trying to print out the roster of an NBA team which is all showing on the screen and if I hit print it involves five pages and the roster is split between two of the printed pages. TIA

    Dennis

Win 8 probably has the same Snipping Tool application at that came with Win 7 that does wonderful things..

Or ALT + Print Screen has always captured the current screen/app you're using.

    No Joy

    Hi Steve,

I only wish. I've got an HP keyboard with a "prnt scrn/sys rq" button on the top right, but with the page showing, pressing it, or "alt" plus the "prnt scrn" causes no reaction, though I can see from the led the signal is getting sent.

I can't find any other "print screen" buttons on the key board. Any ideas why that's on the keyboard but not working.

    Thanks for you help, Dennis

    Fyi

    Steve,

I've just done some checking and find that my keyboard, which is about five or so years old, isn't supported beyond Win. XP and my 8.1 is 64-bit, so I'm going to pick-up a new Win. 8 compatible keyboard tomorrow, install it's software and see if that will allow the "prnt scrn" to work.

Getting that function to Work seems like the simplest solution. Thanks again, Dennis

After you did the ALT+Print Screen key did you open an app like MS Word or Paint and do a PASTE (alt + v) to see if you captured the screen?

Just use the Windows Snipping Tool, save the snip as a jpeg and print it out. You don't need a new keyboard to do that :)

Where did you find this out at? I have a 8 year old keyboard and have no problem. Upgraded from running XP for about 4 years to Win 7. Now duel boot with Win 8.1 and do anything I want to do.

OK everyone, you got me and I got it. First, I didn't know you had to paste to an app. and print from there, so no wonder it didn't work. Forget the new keyboard. However, I went to "Tools" and in the drop-down menu found "HP Smart Print 2.1 ". I let it install, then upgrade to 2.7, and it turned out to be HP's upgraded version of the old Print Screen program. With it your able to select a whole page, or any portion of the page, with the mouse cursor, then do a page preview and shrink or enlarge it (up to 200%), specify how many copies you want and just hit "print ". It was put on my computer when I installed the drivers for the new HP printer, but I had to select it to install it. Now it works from the Tools menu.
