Used comodo for a while worked great started giving me problems today so I uninstalled it and got zone alarm, zone alarm worked great for about an hour then it started slowing down my internet and my computer so I decided to uninstall It problem was after I restarted after the uninstall my internet stopped working works great on my phone just not on my computer I did some googling around ran the zone alarm uninstall tool didn't help after a long time on google I found these steps

"It sounds like either the IP configuration or Winsock has become corrupted. if this is the case you can try the following:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt
    2. Type - netsh int ip reset reset.log
    3. Type ipconfig /renew

    If that doesn't work try:

    1. At the elevated command prompt type - netsh winsock reset catalog
    2. Type - ipconfig /renew

It may also be worth rebooting afte running each command although it shouldn't be necessary. "

After I followed those steps it said internet was limited
Tried to reinstall zone alarm and comodo so I could uninstall through revo cause I know it could get in the registry but neither of them will instal get error messages each time. Would be thankful if u guys could help me sort this out

If you get this sorted out, I would suggest that you just use the Windows Firewall. It is good at what it does.

Perhaps not during that procedure but DEFINITELY after uninstalling any security program that sets deep hooks into the heart (kernel) of the OS.

This might be one of those times where a decent, conservative Registry cleaner can help. But first, I would make sure you have a viable backup of all data you do not want lost. Then if me, I would try CCleaner's Registry cleaner (ensuring I backed up the Registry when prompted). Run it 2 or 3 times (until it finds nothing).

Then do a full, "cold" restart. By "cold" I mean to exit Windows, shutdown the computer, AND unplug the computer from the wall. Unplugging from the wall removes the ATX Form Factor required +5Vsb standby voltage the PC's ATX power supply IS providing to several points on your motherboard, to include the NIC.

Then see how it goes. Note Windows Firewall should be up and running automatically when you removed the 3rd party firewall, but you need to verify that.

We (the vast majority of computer users) only need a "basic" firewall and the Windows Firewall more than meets that requirement (without hogging additional resources!). I use WF and Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender on all my W7/W8.1 systems (and MBAM for verification).

Then you need to tell us what we are working on. We have no clue if this is a notebook or PC, if running Windows 8.1 or WFW 3.11. :(

W8.1 comes with Windows Defender anti-malware and Windows Firewall included. This combination is what I use on all my W8 systems as my primary "real-time" security. Unless you are a careless user or you participate in risky behavior, you don't need to replace what comes in Windows - though again, it is a good idea to periodically scan with a secondary scanner (like MBAM) to ensure you or your security did not let something slip by (regardless your primary real-time solution).

By "risky behavior" I mean participating in illegal filesharing of copyrighted materials (tunes, videos, and published writings) via torrents or P2P sites, visit illegal pornography or gambling sites, failure to keep the computer fully updated, and/or being "click-happy" on unsolicited downloads, attachments or links.

The only way to determine the PSU information is to visually inspect its label. But for your motherboard, check out Speccy (from the makers of CCleaner).

One option is to reinstall Zone Alarm and see if that fixes the no internet problem. If it does, then go through it and disable it's options and then uninstall it.

Super! I am glad you got it sorted and thanks for posting your solution.

How far back with System Restore did you have to go?

Well, I would not be surprised if you are hesitant to try this again, but if me, I would. You can (should) manually make a new Restore Point now, just in case you need to roll back again.
