Here's what I'm trying to do. I have an older microcassette recorder that has an 11-minute recording on a tape. I'm trying to capture the recording onto my computer so I can burn it on a cd and give it to my elderly mother-in-law. The recording is of her late brother speaking and she would love to hear his voice again. If I just give her the recorder, I'm afraid she will accidentally hit the Record button and record over his voice (another elderly relative already did just that on part of the recording.)
I got a 3.5mm dubbing cable, plugged one end into the Line In port on my computer and the other end into the earphone jack on the recorder. I used the Sound Recorder program but the result was real faint, even with the sound turned all of the way up.
I'm looking for suggestions on making this work. Thanks in advance for any help.
