For the last couiple days now, every time I start my pc or restart it, a window pops up from publisher Performersoft LLC, asking me to install some type of program. I don't have a clue as to what this program is about or why it is popping up on my pc. Would appreciate some advice on how to stop this popup. Thanks in advance.

Thanks but I have tried this before. I have NOT downloaded the file... I always delete the window when it pops up.

    Hi Beach Boy.

Its possible that the entry is listed under your startup programs and it should be a fairly straightforward process of removing the entry from startup.

Download and run Autoruns from here, Autoruns.

Save the folder to your desktop. Right click the folder and click extract all to extract the folder. Once the folder is extracted open the folder. Run the Autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run As Administrator. Once the program opens click the Logon Tab to display all the startup programs that are starting up with your computer.

Highlight the Performersoft LLC entry and delete the entry from the list to remove it from starting up with the computer. Reboot the computer after deleting the item and see if it is no longer starting up with the machine.

I tried this very carefully. I checked the Logon Tab and all the other tabs and still could not find Performersoft under the Publisher column. Thanks just the same for your help Evan.

[I recall recently doing a Google search and someone said they got rid of this problem by downloading Performersoft and uninstalling it using a different method than the normal uninstall used in the Control Panel. They downloaded another program to uninstall it and it worked!]

Try this, click Start< Run and type msconfig and hit enter. When the msconfig window opens under Startup selection is the Normal Startup option selected? If its not selected then go ahead and select it. Then click on Ok to close the msconfig window.

Now open Autoruns again and the entry should show up this time on the Logon Tab.

Well Evan, I did what you advised and still there is no sign of Performersoft. Should I do msconfig again and click on Selective startup? This was the startup button before I selected Normal startup on your advice..

You know, this popup just started about 3 days ago, like somekind of fluke that comes up on my desktop when I start or re-start my pc..

Do you think if I were to do a system restore for about 5 days ago, would that eliminate Performersoft? I could be wrong, but somehow I don't feel as if this prog is on my pc at all.

Yeah I agree. Try using System Restore and restoring your computer to a time when you didn't have the popup window coming up and see if that resolves the problem.

Yes folks, thanks very much. System Restore has solved the problem early this morning. I restored sys to May 1st. I know I didn't have to go back that far.

I have never heard about or used Performersoft before, but if any strange popup ever happens again, I will do sys restore as well as email the company and ask them why on earth their prog is popping up on my desktop.
