? First you say you solved it by using a new MB & reinstall, later you claim you haven't solved it & haven't reinstalled...

Anyway, I won't have anything to add if this still is a problem.

Arie,

With all my 'ramblings' maybe I didn't explain properly what I did to resolve the problem.
Firstly the scenario -
I have 3 PC's -
A My main PC where I do most of my serious work eg video editing plus email.
B My old PC where I test new software and have a couple of games installed.
C Spare PC not used and not on the network
A and B are networked
I began having problems access folders/files on A using B (subject to an earlier post)
I did a Windows XP repair installation on B
I then could access shared folders on A from B but then I couldn't access the internet (on B).

I created this post and followed all suggestions madePLUS I found some suggestings from Goggling the problem.

I then disconnected B from the network and connected C - everything worked. This proved that there was a software/settings problem on B.

I disconnected C and reconnected B and did a format and new installation of Windows (I had become tired of all the time wasting) - everything now works.

That is why I would love to know why B stopped accessing the internet (although file sharing still worked) even after doing everything suggested.

I will never know now that I have reformatted.

Thanks for your interest.
