I am able to ping "Y" machine from "X" machine but I do not get any reply

Hi,

I am able to ping "Y" machine from "X" machine but I do not get any reply when I try to ping "X" machine from "Y". The ping is only one way Y --> X, not X --> Y. Please let me know why I can't ping the other way + the solution.Even after disabling windows firewall i could not ping "x" machine.

It's most likely a firewall setting on PC Y. Common setting is to allow outgoing PING/ICMP requests but not incoming requests.

Are both PC on the same subnet? That is, is there a router between them.

Also make sure the server service is running.
