speed. I replace the router and installed Gigabit NIC cards. My client PC's are XP Home, Professional, WHS and Vista Home, all have the lateste SP and updates. One of my XP Pro Machines is not able to be accessed after the change-over. It shows up in the workgroup but can't be accessed from other clients. Also on this machine the no other clients in the workgroup show up. Strangely though my mapped network drives to other client show up and i can access them. Also under "My Network Places" shared drive and folders all show and can be accessed. I've run the Network Setup wizard 3x and uninstalled networking in the "Add/Remove Windows Components" section. Workgroup name is the same as all the other clients. I've tried everything I know to do...please help.

1. by name it says "ping request could not find host", by ip it times out with all packets lost.
2. yes
3. it is definetly a Workgroup.
4. All those services are running.
5. I reset the router so i could start over with the configuration hoping that would help. Before reset Gateway IP was 192.168.1.1 now it's 10.0.0.1. with both i've had the same result with this client. Router is Netgear WRN854T.
Internet and LAN works fine after reset. I've set up several routers and i've never seen an IP address like that. In the past when i've reset they always went back to 192.xxx.x.x.
Mike, there was no IP6 or NW listed under LAN properties. QoS Packet Scheduler was and i disabled it, rebooted and still same issue. i checked another client running the same OS but different NIC and QoS is enabled on that one and it sees all other clients on the LAN. The problem client has an "Authentication" tab in the properties while the non-problematic one does not. I've tried changing the settings on this tab...i can enable or disable "IEEE 802.1x authentication, Choose a network authentication method: MD5-Challenge, Smart Card or other Certificate, Protected EAP (PEAP). The latter two have adjustable settings. What next? I have a laptop at home that has done the same thing as this one...i tried your suggestions on that one and it didn't work on that one either...XP Pro on that one also.
