Cant connect to network

I got a Linksys router and connected it to my XP desktop. I set it up and connect to the internet fine. When i try to connect my Vista laptop via wireless it says i'm connected to the network but i cannot see any of my desktop files and i cannot connect to the internet. i've been at this for 4 hours now trying everything i can find on the net and no luck. i got it to tell me it was connected to internet but when i opened a browser it would not show anything.

A bit more info, please. On the Vista machine, what browser are you using? Do you have the correct settings in START/CONTROL PANEL/INTERNET OPTIONS under both the SECURITY and the ADVANCED tabs? What Security are you running (e.g.: Firewall, especially)? On the Wireless Router/Acces Point, what security did you set up? WEP? WPA? None?
