"Limited or No Connectivity" Issue

I have browsed through some of the other posts with the same issue, but without any luck. I have tried all the usual stuff, such as the hotfix, the adding lines to the registry, the Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog, Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log, but all to no avail. I really am stumpted with this one, i really am.

How do you connect...DSL, cable, dialup, something else? Is is wired or wireless? Are you using a router, hub or switch or, if broadband, does the modem have a built-in router?

When you lose connectivity, are all the lights on whatever equipment you're using all stay green?

Does the connection restore itself or do you have to do something?

I'm also having the same issue as this chap. I thought it would be best to continue this thread rather than starting a new one. I have been reading a few forums and have found no solution as yet, this one seemed like one of the better ones to post in. The error message 'Limited or no connectivity' seems to always be linked to the SP2 upgrade, however I have not upgraded, this is the first time I've attempted to set up a wired LAN, so I'm not sure if it is even related to SP2 at all.

All I am trying to achieve is to hook up 2 PCs to an ADSL Router, allowing them to communicate with eachother whilst sharing the same Internet connection & printer. I am firstly trying to see if I can get the Internet to work with only 1 PC connected to the router/modem, but unfortunately I have not been able to get that far. The LAN connetion keeps displaying the error message 'Limited or no connectivity'

What I have tried..
- Different ethernet cables
- Winsockxp fix
- Reinstalling NIC drivers
- Reinstalling router drivers
- System reboots
- Unplugging & reconnectiong router (all lights are on)
- Used a laptop with its own network card (same error message)

After these connection issues I reconnected my USB ADSL modem and the Internet connection is working fine.

I'm thinking it must be related to the router. Funnily enough the guy in the computer shop said alot of people bring the routers back complaing that they don't work, when in reality they do but aren't configured properly. It clearly says on the router 'plug n play compatible', and I'm running out of options before returning the router, so I thought I'd post here first before I do.

Anybody have any ideas? Any pointers would be much appreciated.

I've read most of the postings about this issue. I am in the midst of one now. My "limited or no...." issue started when the system downloaded the Widows updates. SP2 was already bundled on the system.
Prior to the updates, I had great connectivity, downloaded several apps from different sites, Symantec and HP. But as soon as the updates hit, nothing.
Tried doing the "ipconfig /release and renew" as well as "netsh", with no change.
I'm going to try and apply some the the "fixes" outlined here and other places and will post my results.
