Getting past Login

I just purchased a used IBM thinkpad w/ NT - when it starts up it goes to a login screen looking for a domain and password from the previous owner - how do I clear this out so I can use this PC in my new world?

Easiest would be to check with the original owner. There should be a local (PC rather than domain) admin account and with that account name & password, you could get on and set things to suit yourself.

Otherwise, insert install CD, wipe out the existing system, reload the OS.

Problem is original info is "lost" - also I dont have CD drive or original CDs - any other choices given what I have?

Per posting rule #6 you won't get any help cracking a password from anyone here and that's about the only option you have left.

You basically got 'had' when you bought a secure system without the info you needed and especially without the install media. If it were me, I'd be real tempted to get a legit copy of an OS and restage the PC.
