On my notebook, i have a wireless card and a network card. at work we have both types of connections.
i want to use both connections at the same time, wireless & network. Use the wireless for internet and the network for work. i use a static IP for the network connection.

Can this be done and how?
    thanks.

Yes, but it could be a pain to maintain and it depends on how your networks are set up.

Simplest part if you are using static IP addresses for both wired and wireless networks: don't assign a default gateway on the wired connection. That will force all traffic destined for outside your wired subnet to go over the wireless network.

The more difficult part is to force normal local network traffic to connect to the wired connection. If the wireless network uses a different IP address scheme to the wired network, then you'll probably find your system will work out the best path automatically. However, if they share the same IP address space, or the main network resource are on a third subnet, then you'll probably have to start tweaking your routes and binding order.

In my experience, wireless is significantly slower than a wired network. Off-loading network traffic to the wireless network therefore provides very minor performance boost (if any) for a great deal of added complexity. If you want the best performance whilst connected to a wired network, turn the wireless connection off. Then switch it on when you are disconnected from the wired network and need wireless connectivity.

Why do you want to use both ?
The hard wire should be tons faster than the wireless
I know with modems there were devices for gaming for 2 modems at the same time to speed things up
I do not know if there is such a item for broadband
Why not have 2 ips - one static for the hard wire
an auto or another static for the wireless
The router should hand the wi fi card a different ip as it will think that it is a different device
interesting to see what others will say
Why are they using static ips ?
