I have a Seagate GoFlex TV Media Player with a network adapter attached. In order to stream videos to my Wi-Fi enabled TV, the GoFlex requires entry of what the GoFlex refers to as the Net User ID and Net Password, This is where the problem begins. I've tried using the computers name for the ID and the password I use for the computer but these don't allow log-in. I'm running W7 Home Premium and nothing in my network mentions or makes any reference to Net User ID & Net Password. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is, have you tried using your Router password or alternatively 'administrator' as I see on various forums others with your issue would be a couple to try.

    kind regards,

The Net User ID and Net Password are the logon credentials required for shares on your lan computers or nas devices. To access multimedia on Windows computers you must:
    1. turn off Homegroup. (follow this guide)
    2. setup shares.

I'll be away for a few days and try all suggested solutions when I return.

OK. Followed your instructions but still can't log in. It may be I'm confused as to which user and password I should use. I've tried those listed in my credentials. They don't work. I don't know which others I should use. Computer name and PC log in password didn't work either. I don't know of any other user and password on my system.

Do you have the files you want to access inside a shared folder?

Yes, all files shared. I'm thinking this is a Windows 7 security issue. Had no problem with XP and Vista and, from what I've heard around other boards, many others who have switched to W7 are having the same problem with their Seagate GoFlex Media Player.

I've read that as well. I suggest trying some of the solutions posted at those forums.

Never figured out the logon that the player needed. Oddly enough, I mistakenly clicked "WORKGROUP" instead of the usual logon thing and immediately received a "Logon Successful" message. It then went to my shared drive and I was able to play a video. Go figure. I'll marked this post as Resolved.
