this question is for my daughters computer. Its new for xmas. Model asus K52F

She ran out of space and that is impossible, so when I look at "my computer" properties, I see:

    Hard drives: (2)

    OS (C) 1.08MB free of 72.6 GB
    Data (D) 202 GB free of 205GB

    Devices with Removable Storage (1)
    DVD RW Drive (E)

why is he D drive carrying her space and not the C drive? She get disk is too full when opeing pictures or saving anything? I see that it is trying to use the C as it should, but why is the D where all the space is?

The operating system runs (normally) on the C drive and often requires free space on that drive. 1.08MB is not free space think of it as a ream of A4 and you need 30/40 sheets and you're handed 1.

You've got to ask yourself though, what has your daughter been doing to fill up the drive that quickly?

If you download TreeSize Free you will be able to see what is taking up the disk space.

    BUT if it is showing
    Data (D) 202 GB free of 205GB

isn't that 202GB free on the wrong drive??? shouldn't that be on the C?

Also, she does photograhpy and has a camera (very nice one) that I am sure her pictures are taking a lot of space.

I am familiar with TreeSize so I will do that.

The hard drive is spilt into Two partitions. The "user" determins where they store stuff. Sure sounds like she needs to move files for C to D;)

A new member accidently sent me this private message:

But I think he missed the part where you have 202 GIGS of free drive space on the D drive;)
