This happened once before when I was helping this friend with her Vaio laptop. She she couldn't type in her AOL e-mail. I said close the AOL and reboot and try it again. Then she could write. Now, while she was using Spybot, there was some mess up on her computer and she lost internet wireless connection, her old desktop icons and keyboard function. I fixed the rest of the problems (there seems to have been, without her knowing, a switch in the user which I restored, and could get back the internet connection and old desktop), but I couldn't get the functioning of the keyboard back. The sound and brightness function keys work, but that's about all. I uninstalled and reinstalled windows keyboard driver and that didn't help.

What's interesting is that I could type in the password while logging in, but then nothing works. The problem, therefore, is probably not hardware. The keyboard does seem to connect to the computer.

    Please help.

    Keyboard working again

When she came back I asked about some of the icons on the taskbar which I hadn't seen before and that led me to the screen where she had changed the settings for easy access to the computer (Vaio settings). I restored the original settings and the keyboard started working again.

Thank you, I couldn't find where the 'Resolved' command was. Now I know.
