I am currently using iPad 3 16GB, iOS updated to the latest version 8.1.1

My beloved iPad loves to show it's behavior, shuts itself down, loves freezing, and shows some distorted screen randomly. It crashes about 2-4 times a day. How horrible it is! :mad:It is even worse than Android devices! I am really annoyed when in the midst of using an app or surfing the Internet, all of the sudden it ends abruptly. There is no way but to force restart the device.

Can an iPad be infected by viruses? Or should I suspect hardware defects?
    Any help is appreciated. :)

Yep, they can get Viruses just like a PC. Nothing that gets on the net in not venerable. Always a crook out there waiting to steal you day.

Don't know of a way to wipe it clean and start over like with a PC.

Is there any other way besides destructive reinstall? Because I have actually tried this method but no avail.

Sorry for my late reply. Actually, the methods that I have attempted are:
    1. Uninstall potentially-cause-crashes apps
    2. Reset iOS preferences
    3. Clean reinstall of iOS

I had to reply late due to experiments with the iPad. Now I have discovered that the real culprit is due to installation of some pirated apps through an Agent app (example: Tongbu assistant) without having it jailbreaked. The agent app had messed up the whole iOS system. After uninstalling the app and all the pirated apps, the iPad returns to normal, and now is totally stable.

I know that I shouldn't inflict any piracy issues here, but I had to speak the truth and put this to an end. I knew my mistakes and vowed not to repeat it again.

Thanks MrBill. I will mark this thread as "Resolved ".
