Hi all, to start off with I am not very much in the know how, when it comes to Smartphones, and that is a fact.
a couple of days ago my Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone asked me to update from 8 to 8.1, so I allowed it to so. Every thing went well (so I thought) because the phone after the update was working OK everything was there.
Yesterday though I wanted to update the Nokia Camera, and as you need to sign in to your MS Account, my phone came up with a user name (email address) that I haven't used in some 15 + years and naturally no idea about the password. So MS is not allowing me to update my apps on the phone.

Any idea anyone on how to overcome that problem without resetting the phone to manufacturing set-up.

I have googled and been to quite a few sites trying to reset password but biggest problem is MS doesn't seem to remember that email address either.

I have also listed that question on the Windows Phone Forum hoping for a solution other that a hard reset.

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated

When the old email address came up can you override it like you can almost every where else? Or were there other options to log into different accounts?

Then there's the part about - Are there some updates for the camera and if so, what do the updates fix...and do they fix anything that "you' need fixed?

Hi Steve, no the phone does not give you any options whatsoever, apart from cancel. The photo update is just one example, all windows updates are off, also backup, everything that needs the windows sign in, and that on a windows phone is just about everything.
Looking around at the Nokia, and Windows Phone Forums there are bucket loads of people whose phones have been affected in different ways after this update.
Should have known better that letting Windows do an update.
