Unhappy Sent e-mail being stored in outbox

I brought a Dell Laptop and was wanting to sent a Excel file to the desktop of my new Laptop. With my surprise all of my e-mail that I send is going to my outbox and just standing there.

I have Bellsouth as my e-mail carrier and on my new laptop it is Windows Live (Hotmail).

Here is a error message that comes up; (Task "masongezi@bellsouth.net-Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80): 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.)
When I brought my laptop I did buy a Netgear router and installed it here at the house so that I could use my laptop around the house. Could that be the problem, because my e-mail was working fine.

I have windows XP of my desktop computer, and Vista on the new Dell Laptop.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you are using Outlook Express on the XP box it is no longer compatible with Hotmail AFAIK - see the first few links here ....
