Outlook Dictionary Stuck on French

For reasons I am far from clear about, my Microsoft Outlook is currently stuck on using French as the default for the dictionary spellcheck function. Looking under the Tools option under Email shows the dictionary, but shows French as the only language option. On my version at work, the pulldown shows about a half dozen selection options - including the option for English.

I saw at least a couple of other postings elsewhere that directly or indirectly reference this same problem, however the solutions posted do not really address the underlying cause of the poblem, but instead reference readers to the think about using the free SpellChecker for Outlook. I've got no problems with this as an alternate solution, but I was just wondering if anyone had trailed up into a possible solution at the primary software application level?
