When sending email I get an uncoded error but the email goes thru as normal. However it resides in the outbox after being sent and continues to send itself repeatedly until I delete it from the outbox. Any ideas?

mjgat - Welcome to the Board :)

It would be helpful to have detail of the error message.

Possible cause of the behaviour you describe is a corrupted Outbox .....

Search for *.dbx files - include Hidden files & folders and with OE closed delete Outbox - it will be recreated the next time OE is opened. Test

Also possible that Sent Items is corrupt .....

Make a new folder Sent Items Old and drag all sent items into it - then delete Sent Items as above. Once OE has been restarted drag the sent Items back into Sent Items and delete the Sent Items Old folder you created. Test.

PeteC, thanks. Deleting the "sent items" box did the trick. Previously I had deleted all "sent items" entries thinking something was corrupt. The problem was in the "sent items" file itself. Per your suggestion I deleted the .dbx file for sent items, restarted and it worked.
I thank you and all who receive dozens of duplicate email from me thankyou.

    Same problem-Which Folder?

    Pete
I've got a customer with the same problem.
Are ypu saying to deletes the "Sent" and "Outgoing" .dbx folders that are located where OE stores its folders?

Yes - follow the steps in my post #2, but first delete Sent Items .dbx - having copied contents to a new folder - Sent ItemsOld - and test. If the problem is not resolved repeat for Outbox.

    Thanks, Pete
That one had a lot of people baffled.
The problem gives you the indications of malware.
I had done everything in my bag of tricks from Hijackthis to "Combofix ".
I did the "Sent.." first, didn't work, than deleted the Outgoing.
You saved me from a format and reinstall, usually my last option.

BTW, my last name is Crane and I believe we originated somewhere outside London.

    Thanks, again,
    The other PeteC

You're welcome :) Glad to hear you avoided the format!

Many problems in OE are caused by .dbx corruption. The published max size of a .dbx file is 2 Gb, but OE may play funny way below that figure.
