Sending message x of y - outbox empty [Outlook 2007]

Hi,

Newbie to the forum. Looks like a useful place to visit.

On occasions (perhaps once or twice a day but not all the time) Outlook 2007 does an automatic send and receive but tells me it is sending message 8 of 8 or 3 of 6 or whatever, even when the outbox is empty or perhaps has only one message to send.

ANy thoughts?

Does this sound like my email client has been hijacked and is sending nuisance emails to people?

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers,

Ian . . .

Wouldn't hurt to try the following:

How to use the Inbox Repair Tools to recover e-mail messages in Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007

Thanks

Many thanks for the suggestion. I've followed the instructions and will monitor whether it's had any success. I also tried using Outlook Spy as there was a suggestion elsewhere that the phantom messages may be old read receipts that can't be delivered. I followed the supplied instructions to the letter but it didn't seem to do anything!

Thanks again for the advice. Much appreciated.
