    Hi

I recently installed Outlook 2003 on a new PC running Windows 7.

Ever since I transferred Outlook from my old PC which ran XP, I have been getting the following error message when I open Outlook:-

    OUTLOOK.EXE - No Disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1

    Cancel Try Again Continue

When I click on any of Cancel, Try Again or Continue, the message comes back five or six times, and then gets bored and goes away ..... until the next time I open Outlook.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

    Many thanks

    I guess I did both.

I installed MS Office from the CD, and then transferred (maybe I should have said "imported ") my ".pst" data from the old PC.

I hope that helps, and thanks for your interest.

    Hi Arie

    Thank you for this suggestion.

I've checked it out and it seems to refer to Office 2000 and Windows XP.

I am running Office 2003 and Windows 7.

Do you think that it will work?

    Regards

    Michael

Try this for sure: Method 1: Repair the Personal Folder File

    Hi Steve

I'm sorry, but I'm still having problems.

As you suggested, I am trying Method 1 : Repair the Personal Folder File

    I am running Windows 7.

I have backed up my .pst file as in Method 1 (1).

I then move on to Method 1 (2).

When I enter "outlook.exe /cleanpst" in the Run Open box, I get a dialogue box inviting me to "Choose Profile ". If I click on the suggested profile "Outlook ", it opens Outlook in the usual way, and I get the original error message saying "No disk - there is no disk in the drive ".

I am given the option to "Create New Profile ". Should I do this, and, if so what should I call it?

Will creating a new profile get me to the next stages set out in the suggestion solution, i.e. Method 1(3) through to 1(7)?

If not, how do I get to Method 1(3)?

    Thank you for your help.

    Michael

Yes, you can name it whatever you want ( "Profile II "?)

Doing that will get you to perform steps 3-7 from Method 1.

    Hi Arie

    This is bizarre.

I created a new Profile, as you suggested, but Outlook asked me to create a new e-mail account.

Since all the e-mail information was in the original Outlook profile, I had to close down the new profile and open the old one.

When I did this, Outlook opened without any error messages.

Not quite believing my luck, I opened and closed Outlook several times, but still no error messages.

I then shut down and restarted the PC, and Outlook still opened without the error messages.

I never got round to applying steps 3 to 7.

So, a big THANK YOU to you and Steve for solving my problem.

    Keep up the good work.

    Michael

P.S. If you don't mind, I'll wait a couple of days before marking my thread as closed - just in case.

OK... we take a fix any day, even if we don't know how it came about ;)
