    I run OE6 on a Toshiba Tecra S2 notebook with XP SP3. I need to find some hard drive space and have noticed that the OE Store Folder contains a number of folders each named "Search Folder ". When I double click on any of them, all that happens is that the OE Inbox appears. Can I safely delete these folders?

    Also, the Store Folder is 6.8GB with 17 sub-folders in use, many of them archives. I have a lot of trouble with OE being slow to load and not opening an email when I first try after OE has started. I then have to shut OE down with Task Manager, and restart it. After restart, emails open with no problem, other than being a little slow at times. The problem will reappear next time OE is started after a shutdown. Past queries have suggested that this problem may be because OE doesn't like large folders so I have thought about moving the archived emails into folders outside the Store Folder so they don't affect the running of OE. However, I don't know how I can do this in a way that will permit OE to open the emails when I want to see them.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Try cleaning up your mail folders.

    Tools->Options->Maintenance->CLeanup Now->Compact.

    Take a backup of your mails before doing it, if you are doing it for the first time as it could take a long time & it can freeze.

    Prior to compacting, empty the Recycle Bin. When the messages are compacted, the system sends a copy of each *.dbx file to the RB but with the extension *.bak. This means that backing up is automated (or should be) and if anything goes wrong, change the file extension and copy them back. You can't change the file extension in the RB but you have to move them from the RB to a temp folder.

    In your situation, is there enough free space for a copy of those 6.8 GB?
