How do I get my Windows Mail contact list to show on my main e-mail page?

Hi-

I'm not sure if I made myself clear with that question so let me explain.

I just got a new laptop and am having my first experience with windows vista and windows e-mail. Before, I was using XP and outlook express. Whenever I had to send an e-mail, all I had to do was go to the left side of my main e-mail page and click on the persons name that I wanted to send the e-mail to and it opened up a new e-mail addressed to that person......my entire address book was listed right there!!! Now, I have to click on "create mail" then click on "to" and then my contact list comes up and I have to scroll down until I find the person I want to send the e-mail to...thats 3 extra steps....what a pain!!!

I just want my contact list on the left like it used to be in outlook! Can anybody tell me how to do this?

Sadly, they have been removed in Windows Mail.

You could put the Contacts in the Sidebar, via the Windows Orb (Start) > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Sidebar then add the Contacts (and any other gadgets you want) by clicking the plus sign at the top.

Now click on the Contacts ‘shaded’ box and drag it to the Desktop to give a bigger and better display as an ‘open book‘.

To compose an email, click on a Contact's email address in the right page.

I was afraid that would be the case, I just dont get why they would remove such a useful tool! I've always believed in "if it aint broke dont fix it"!

Seems like Vista is loaded with disappointing changes...I'm really missing my XP.

Thanks for your response.
