I want to find the Windows Mail files and also the Contacts files so that I can back them up. I don't want to export them. I want to use another program to back them up, but I don't know where to look for them.

Any suggestions was to where I should look?

    Thanks

I would start by searching for *.wab file(s) - Address book and *.dbx files -emails. I am not a Vista user as yet, but those are the file extensions used in XP.

As this is a Windows Mail question I have moved your thread to that forum with title edit.

Well, after doing some more digging on my own, I came up with a location for the email folders:
    C:/Users/(MyName)/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Mail/Local Folders

Apparently, the *.dbx files are non existant in Vista. Each individual message is now saved as a separate .eml file.

The contact lists was right there under my User Name, also.

If I am mistaken somehow about this, I'd like to know about it. This appears to be it, though.

    Thanks.
