I've starting using Microsoft Outlook as my daytimer & am using Netscape 7.1 as my default browser - When I try to open the Outlook file, "Outlook.Exe - Ordinal Not Found" appears on my Dektop (Full message states: "The ordinal 36 could not be located in the dynamic link library MAPI32.dll." - What can I do to correct this problem??

    Thanks,
    Ace

    Hello Ace,

To get started, more info please.

From your post, its not clear whether the OE error started with the onset of using Netscape, or were you using Netscape before using OE.

Also state the OE version you're using.

I've adjusted your title and moved your thread to the OE section.

    Regards - Charles

    Opening Outlook

    Charles ,
Thanks for responding - Sorry for the delay - I have Microsoft Office 97 / Outlook 97 (Version 8.02.4212), Outlook Express 6 (Version 6.00.2900.2180) & I'm using Microsoft XP Pro (just switched from Windows 98) - Have been using Netscape 7.1 for some time & just switched to Outlook to replace Daytimer software - Don't know if there was a previous problem - I'm able to use Outlook features until I select Netscape Mail as the default mail application- After that when I try to bring up Outlook, then the error occurs - When I deselect Netscape mail as the default mail application, then I'm able to use Outlook again - Also, my .WKS files are not working - Caused by same problem? - Finally, which Outlook files do I backup for logged info & settings for Calendar, Contacts & Tasks? - These are where all my important business addresses & events are stored -

Thanks ahead of time for your help!!
    Ace

Try clicking on Start->Search and select advanced search...Search for the file MAPI32.dll....

On any and all copies you find that are NOT in the C:\Windows\System or C:\Windows\System32 folder-> right click and select Rename. Rename to (anything) MAPI32_ORIG.dll.... Reboot and try to open Outlook again.

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    Double-click Add or Remove Programs.

Click the Microsoft Office version that you have installed, and then click Change.

After you enter the Setup program, click Repair Office, and then click Next.

    Steve,
The only choices are:1) Add/Remove, 2) Reinstall & 3) Remove All - I've tried Choices 1 & 2 in the past & they have not resolved the problem

Pop in the Office cd and see if it has a repair option.

Try the reinstall and only select Outlook if possible.

    Steve,
Only can re-install all programs - I did however notice when I did a search again on MAPI32.dll, I found MozMapi32.dll in C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape - Is this a file I can rename as you mentioned previously or should I leave it alone?

    Thanks, Ace
