Hi all, my first thread here, hopefully it will give me insipiration to stay :)

It all started with me going out to a customer to check up on his Outlook, cause he complained that it was using all his virtual memory.

When i start up Outlook, it just "freeze" on the startup screen (with name , ID code and so on), when i check the taskmanager, i see that it starts grabbing all the free mem, one by one....until it's all used up. Stops around 2gig. Then after like 5-8 minutes it starts up, works fine, but still uses 2gig of virtual mem.

Here's what i've done: (Config: XP sp2, Office Standard Edition Norwegian version)

    - removed Outlook, and reinstalled
    - removed Office 2000 and reinstalled
    - Installed sp1a, sp2 and sp3 for Office 2000 (standard edition)
    - Renamed all mapi32.dll to mapi32.old , and renamed mapistub.dll to mapestub.old. This was according to Tech Net regarding a mapi problem.. Outlook then should ask me to insert CD and grab a new mapi32.dll, but that didnt happened, so i renamed em back.
    - Upgraded to Office 2003 ENGLISH version

Same thing happened in Office 2003, then i:

    - Deleted the profile, and .pst files and created new ones

    Still same problem :(

So, does anyone have any idea for me to try out?
To me it seems there gotta be some file damage, and that to a file that isnt renewed on a upgrade (service pack or newer version).

Thanks for all help in advance

I was leaning towards thinking the pst file might have reached the two gig limit. Reaching this limit will cause all sorts of issues. But, looks like you elimindated that possibility.

Might look at these in case you haven't seen em:

Outlook stops responding when you start Outlook with a slow connection

OFF: Office Program Opens Slowly With Norton Installed

Thanks for ur answer, but im afraid none of them seem to help me in my problem. I find it abit weird that upgrading to Office 2003 didnt remove/replace all files used by outlook. I really believed that would fix the problem, but the problem might be something else than Outlook itself.....

    Anyone else ? :)

    Thanks, Roar
