    Hi all,

I have a customer that lost her email and addresses after she did an XP reinstall (per tech support). Yes I already told her to talk to me before calling ts next time. We could have exported first at the very least.

Anyway, the reinstall they had her do, rather than an inplace upgrade nuked all her profiles and created new ones. However, it appears that she did not format the drive, so data still exists in old profiles. I cannot, however, seem to find a .pst file with any gurth. She claims to have hundreds of emails and even more addresses, but a search only reveals a very small file (about a 100k) and no email/addresses in that file.

She said she wasn't sure if she used OE or O, but I can't seem to find a .dbx file either, and since outlook was installed on the laptop, I figured it was probably Outlook. Any thoughts on restoring this mail file? Any help would be mucho appreciated. Thanks to any and all!

First have her look at OE to figure out which program she uses...

In Win Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View->there are three (3) Hide option. Disable them so you can see/find the hidden .pst or .dbx files.

  3. to hide this advert.

    Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I know I have to get her back down here to look at O & OE. I already UN hid files, and not finding any with weight.

There is a very small file, I think I mentioned, so I'm able to find them, but apparently, not the right one.

I am going to see if I can un erase w/ez reco and go from there.

thanks again for the response, I'll update later.
