A problem has arisen using the 2003 outlook SP3 and coupled with Word in my Professional edition 2003 as email editor. When address book icon is clicked a message is "the messaging interface returned an unknown error" if the problem persists restart Outlook. This did not work. I went into the help links for outlook and word for the detect and repair. This did not help. I reinstalled MS Office 2003 Professional Edition for the outlook and word. This did not work.

Contacts show only my contacts I restored after they all were deleted. Contacts in Personal Folders are still intact but won't come up in the address book.

If I right click on an email to forward nothing happens so I go up to the top and click forward it takes a very long time for the email to cycle and when I click on the address book I get the messaging interface error. If I start imputing the address for the addressee it finishes it after the first letter or two.

if I right click on an image to email I get "the operation failed ". If Outlook is not running the right click calls up word and the "TO" then will access the address.

I checked for any disabled items and there were none. I went into Detect and repair for Outlook and clicked on the box saying "discard my customized settings and restore default settings ". This emptied my emails so I had to re-input everything but it still was not working right so I went back in and clicked on "restore my shortcuts while repairing. This also did not work so I had to input my contacts I used mostly so now there are two contact lists one saying contacts (the ones I put back in) contacts in personal folders ( which is all of them). Would deleting the new contact list help?

Under ALL MAIL FOLDERS I have 2 separate Personal Folders containing deleted, and all my folders. In the top Personal Folders are the ones I put in after Outlook crashed but then I found out the second Personal Folders are all my emails going back several years. Could this somehow be causing my problems? would deleting the one personal folders that I set up help?

Any suggestions would help greatly as I am out of ideas.

    Thank you.

    Dave

I was able to find a work around but now the old Outlook has suddenly reappeared and back to normal. now I have two address books. One I made and all my previous contacts are also there in a second file. I am about to get a Windows 10 laptop and just want to know if my Office 2003 Professional with Outlook, Word, etc., will work with 10? thanks.
