PDF files will not open while in Win Live mail. Previously they did, now have to save them to a folder where I then can open them. Had the problem using Adobe reader, the tried foxit reader, still won't open. File association is OK, have scoured the internet, lots of similar reports, no solutions.

Hi mijnarf, What system OS are you running Xp / Vista / W7 / 8.1?
W8.1 will have Apps available to help open pdf's.
Have you tried another email source. Neil.

Neil, Tried those suggestions prior to going to the BBS, and tried again after receiving your msg. It did not work. Have also discovered nothing (Attachs) now will open in Win live mail. I said nothing, at least not word.docs/wordpad/.rtf - but saving them somewhere else, they will open.

By far the simplest fix is to use Windows System Restore to roll Windows back to a point in time when your computer was functioning correctly. It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.

If that doesn't help, try restoring an earlier system image or backup.

Went to restore & found points listed from 2013 back to 2011, tried the most recent & of course it did not work. So that's another problem!
Downloaded my e-msgs this AM & the 1st msg had a .pdf which opened. Went to msg folders which had old msgs with Word, .doc, rtf, etc files & they opened.
I can't explain it, but it is now working. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Excellent.

    Step:

    1. Please mark your thread as 'Resolved'. (See attached).

    2. Download, install and get into the habit of using EaseUS Todo Backup Free (or similar). That way, when something disastrous happens, it won't be the end of the world.
