Hi. Please help. I can't seem to open ANY program on my computer except internet explorer. When I click on, Microsoft Word (for example), it says 'this program can not be found'.
I purchased Fix-it Utilities 8 software but I can't even download that on my computer. For some reason my comp. can't open or download .exe files?!
I dont know too much about the registry but I need my programs and I can't find a solution.
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) and save it to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges to complete the following.
Close all other windows before proceeding.
Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy and then paste the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
Download the exe fix from here. Extract the file from the zip and double click (it's a reg file) to merge with the registry. If windows does not know what program to open it with, browse to and select C:\Windows\regedit.exe (need known file extensions showing from Folder Options) and it should merge.
I see that it brought back my programs, and I am able to open, the ones I have tried to recently download, such as PC Tools and the software I purchased.

But I still can't open my former programs such as Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player, and probably 95% of my other programs. Should I just run PC Tools and other softwares to try and fix my problem?

I am sorry. I know I am being a pain. I can't seem to find dss.exe now.
I moved the Deckard's folder onto my desktop but I guess that is not what it wants in order to run "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daft
I thought dss.exe would be in the deckard's folder but it is not there.
I have even searched from the start menu dss.exe and it doesn't come up.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
When I restarted my computer all my icons were back. Everything seems to be accessible now! WOW thank you so much. I was told by several tech guys that it was not fixable!
